A BIT ABOUT ME
My Story
I’m Tan, and I’m a third year medical student at the University of Newcastle. I graduated from high school in 2015 with an ATAR of 99.80, and am currently a faculty scholar in UON's Faculty of Health and Medicine.
I am offering tutoring and guidance for high school (IB, SACE, HSC etc), University as well as the GAMSAT (particularly for the Science and Essay sections). My teaching style is flexible, and I'm happy to adapt it to suit individual needs. I can tutor both face to face and online (where distance/time is an issue), and have access to technologies that can make both work equally well.
I sat the GAMSAT in September 2017 and achieved a score of 76 (100th percentile), with section scores of 65/72/84 for S1, S2 and S3 respectively. As a result, I am happy to provide tips, advice, and support for anyone willing to sit the exam.
I have particular strengths in the science section (especially chemistry and biology), and am willing to go through any areas you are struggling with, provided they are within my area of expertise.
I charge $70 per hour for private tutoring (face to face or via skype), and am willing to tutor according to your needs. The first session will be an introductory session where I provide tips on exactly what you should be doing to best prepare for each of the three sections. In this session, I will work with you to devise a plan according to your needs.
In addition to private tutoring, I am happy to provide detailed feedback for Section II essays at a reasonable rate ($50 for 2 essays or $30 for 1 essay) so that you can practice effectively without going over your budget.
Finally, I'm happy to support you throughout your journey, and am willing to help you if you struggle with anything else that's within my realm.

Forming the crux of my tutoring service, this is where I believe I can help you the most. My lessons focus on revision of fundamental concepts interspersed with valuable problem-based learning thorugh which you can develop much-needed test-taking strategies and refine your approach to each question.

I provide all my students with all the tips and tricks I have accumulated over my own journey in navigating the medical admissions scene, and am a friendly and approachable individual. My goal is to see all of my students through to medical school, and I do all that is within my means to help.
